Microsoft Copilot Studio’s new multi agent orchestration feature allows organizations to build intelligent systems where multiple AI agents collaborate to complete complex tasks.
Instead of relying on a single agent to handle everything, users can now design modular agents—either as lightweight child agents within a main agent or as fully independent connected agents.
These agents can delegate tasks to one another, respond to autonomous triggers, and operate across entire Microsoft 365 cloud.
One agent can have multiple light weight agents within it.
A lightweight agent sits within your agent and is useful for building complex flows logic by breaking down complex work items
This modular approach enhances scalability, governance, and reuse, making it easier to manage large, distributed AI based solutions

How to create multi agents in Copilot Studio?
You can create multi agents within the ‘Overview’ section of agent and click on ‘Add agent’
The lightweight agents can also have their own metadata like description, instructions, knowledge and tools.
For every agent at root level, there is an option for “Connected agents” enablement settings.
This allows an agent to enable the capability to connect with other agents
